With the aim to capture the character of a converted factory, Brick House is a contemporary new build located in Mount Lawley, WA. Designed to look like a heritage factory, the unique project conjures feelings of nostalgia.
Designed by State of Kin, it has been said to be the most popular home in “Open House Perth” history, having achieved record sign-ups prior to the event in November.
A combination of new and old design techniques and materials was used to embrace history in this project. “The red bricks have been salvaged and repurposed, while an expanded steel mesh bridge and suspended reading hammock net have been specially constructed to allow light and movement to flow between levels and spaces,” says State of Kin associate Ara Salomone, who lives in the home with husband and State of Kin construction manager, Donny Salomone.
Smartech were approached by State of Kin to manufacture and supply the motorised Tilt wall, which has been fully glazed. The frame, powder-coated in a matt black, perfectly complements the industrial style of the home.
By installing a Smartech Tilt Wall, the dining area can easily be opened up to the backyard creating an almost seamless transition between indoor and outdoor lifestyles.
We are very pleased with the final look and finish of the tilt wall and the way it blends in with the industrial heritage style of the project. Smartech Tilt Walls can be clad with an almost endless variety of materials and frames can be powered coated in a colour of your choice from our comprehensive range.
