Architects Luchetti Krelle have taken the hotel’s entire upper façade to the next level with an astonishing redevelopment that sees Leyla Rooftop Bar take centre stage. Featuring three expansive Smartech Tilt Windows, the sun-drenched space has taken full advantage of its seventh floor setting. Thanks to Smartech’s generously sized glazed windows, the bar overlooks the Parliamentary Triangle and Lake Burley Griffin – making it one of the most unique venues in Canberra.

Perched loftily atop Burbury Hotel, Leyla’s refreshing rooftop space is enveloped by floor to ceiling glazing that allows the venue to be generously bathed in light. Perfectly fitting for the bar’s airy atmosphere, the inclusion of Smartech’s Tilt Windows invites patrons to soak in the sun and appreciate the hotel’s surrounds year-round. A focal feature of the rooftop, the motorised windows glide up effortlessly and incorporate frameless glass balustrades that appear to be barely there. When open, the result is an unimpeded and breathtaking sense of connectedness to the vast view beyond, as though one is sipping drinks amongst the clouds. For moments when the weather is not as agreeable, the Tilt Windows remain offering a substantial outlook, even when closed.

The interior design of the bar is lavishly dressed in a light palette that conveys an effortless calm. A sophisticated selection of materials have been gorgeously melded and contrasted to form Leyla’s signature sense of contemporary charm. Highlighted are Smartech’s Tilt Windows, adding a bold statement with their dramatic black powder coated frames. Inviting and playful, the lounge area and stools by the bar encourage punters to sit and savour a cocktail while taking in the majestic backdrop of Australia’s capital.
