Log Cabin Hotel

Rising proudly from the ashes of a devastating fire that felled Penrith’s iconic Log Cabin in 2012, the hotel’s reconstruction sees a spirited contemporary development of the historical landmark. Smartech is delighted to have contributed to the $35m project, as its presence holds great significance to the local area.

Reflecting on the Log Cabin’s sentimental value, previous owner and long-time publican, Ross Sinclair fondly describes that “many people in Penrith had their first beer, first dates, celebrated sporting championships, and community events here over the years. To have that legacy continue into a third century is extremely important to me, and not to mention very rare from an Australian heritage perspective.”

Celebrating a history of over 200 years at the riverside site, the rebuild takes a modern approach while retaining memories of the past. The Log Cabin Hotel’s new design encompasses a sleek two-story hotel complex with an array of indoor and outdoor bars and dining spaces that enjoy vistas of the Nepean River.

Perfectly positioned to overlook the water, the hotel’s designers engaged Smartech to supply our signature window solutions. Crafted to maximise outlook, our Tilt Windows and Folding Windows proved the ideal choice to connect and enrich alfresco areas. Complete with a spacious beer garden, children’s playground, fine dining, and function spaces, the project presented many opportune areas that would benefit from our expansive window selections to heartily celebrate the landscape.

The Log Cabin Hotel presents an assured, modern aesthetic with clean lines on a grand scale. Drawing on this, our team of expert engineers created and installed four Smartech windows to complement the Hotel’s façade. This encompassed two Smartech Folding Windows of 2000 x 5800mm and 2000 x 2500mm and two Smartech Tilt Windows of 1600 x 3600mm. All products were double-glazed to ensure optimal thermal comfort and noise reduction, as well as enhancing energy efficiency.

The Log Cabin Hotel’s sprawling balconies and bars set the perfect stage to appreciate the river banks and nature’s spoils. By providing functional connectivity with the ability to open or divide spaces while retaining outlook, our Folding and Tilt Windows also allow the enjoyment to continue from indoors, whatever the weather.
