Point Lonsdale Surf Club

Nestled in the beachside area of Queenscliff, the newly opened Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club plays an important role in the safety of swimmers and beachgoers, while dazzling as a feature of the landscape. The beautifully designed timber-clad clubhouse features Smartech’s Tilt Façade Garage Doors and Smartech’s Flush Finish Tilt Panels.

Officially opened in December 2021, the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club is a two-storey structure that offers lifesavers the facilities they need to keep people safe whilst they are swimming at the beach. Allowing for the club to expand and upgrade their facilities, the clubhouse caters for increased training and education programs while providing opportunities for other community groups to utilise the new space as well.

Smartech Door Systems were asked to manufacture and install two Tilt Façade Garage Doors as well as two custom-designed Flush Finish Tilt Panels.

The Tilt Façade Garage Doors blend in seamlessly with the overall timber finish of the building, which is expressed on the outside and interior. The Tilt Façade Garage Doors are motorised and allow quick and easy access to the surf life saving equipment and vehicles.

The custom-designed Flush Finish Tilt Servery Panels are located on each external wall of the surf club’s kitchen, so that serving the community is a breeze in the yard area as well as the outside facing the street. The Flush Finish Tilt Servery Panels feature the same timber cladding, to blend perfectly with the building’s exterior when closed. When opened, the panels invite the circulation of fresh sea breezes into the space.

JCB Architects were tasked with the design of the new two-storey building. Elegant wooden finishes can be seen throughout; creating ambience that exudes warmth and draws on the surrounding coastal beach house context. A large area of terraced decking and public lawn provides a flexible and active community space. Smartech is pleased to have contributed to this delightful design with our door and wall solutions.
